Piracy accelerated as
streaming grew.
Media and entertainment companies now run entire departments to spot infringing content, track how the landscape shifts, and decide how to respond.
One of the largest media companies in the world came to DAS42 to modernize the data infrastructure behind its anti-piracy program.
The company had a long track record of enforcement and was scaling that effort further as its streaming platforms grew.
The work spanned internal departments, dozens of outside vendors, and partnerships with Facebook and YouTube. Every one of these groups reported piracy leads and tips differently. Some used manual systems. Duplicates piled up. Even the vocabulary didn’t match; for example, the same event might be called as an Incident in one system, a Notice in another, a Claim or an Infringement in a third.
THE SOLUTION
DAS42 designed an end-to-end solution.
That solution was built on the Snowflake Data Cloud to replace the client’s legacy platform and its slow, manual reporting process.
The new platform automatically ingests raw and historical data from every internal unit and vendor into a centralized data lake. DAS42 centralized and standardized the business rules and definitions behind that data and made them visible to stakeholders across the organization.
The architecture gives the team room to add new data sets and change metrics and dimensions as the anti-piracy landscape shifts, without rebuilding the platform each time.
DAS42 also layered in self-service business intelligence so the anti-piracy team could pull a single, complete view of the data themselves.
The team can now generate infringement notice reports at whatever level of granularity a given business unit needs, and track trends by date, property, and response type across every data source.
That visibility lets them work with vendors to build enforcement campaigns targeted at what’s actually happening, not what happened weeks ago.
THE RESULT
The client now runs on a governed, cloud-based single source of truth for anti-piracy data.
Data that once took days to compile is available daily, sometimes more often, and both technical and non-technical stakeholders can reach it directly.
With reporting no longer bottlenecked by manual uploads, the anti-piracy team spends its time on enforcement decisions instead of data wrangling.
The client can now act on a complete, up-to-date view of infringement activity across every source feeding into the system — internal teams, vendors, and platform partners alike.
We work as an extension of our clients’ teams, solving the data problems that stand between them and a business decision.
Real clients, real results.
